Australian Leadership Awards Scholarships  You are now leaving the DEST website  will be awarded to people who have potential to assume leadership roles that can influence social and economic policy reform and development outcomes, both in their own countries and in the Asia-Pacific region.  Scholarships are provided for longer-term postgraduate study at masters or doctoral level.
 

Australian Leadership Awards (ALA) Fellowships  You are now leaving the DEST website  will be awarded to people who are already leaders and/or mid-career professionals who have potential to assume leadership roles that can influence social and economic policy reform and development outcomes, both in their own countries and in the Asia-Pacific region.  Fellowships are offered for short-term research, study or professional attachments. 


Australian Development Scholarships

The Australian Development Scholarships  You are now leaving the DEST website  provide scholarships to individuals within key institutions, to undertake undergraduate or postgraduate studies in Australia in areas relevant to the development needs of their own country. ADS holders are required to return to their country of citizenship for a minimum period of two years following the completion of their scholarship to contribute to the development of their country. Under AusAID's gender/equity policy, ADS awards are allocated equally between men and women.

Endeavour Postgraduate Awards

The Endeavour Postgraduate Awards  You are now leaving the DEST website  provide full financial support for international students for up to 3.5 years to undertake a Masters level or higher qualification either by coursework or research in any field of study in Australia, which includes a semester of English language training (if required).


Endeavour Research Fellowships
 
The Endeavour Research Fellowships  You are now leaving the DEST website  provide financial support for postgraduate students and postdoctoral fellows:
  • From participating countries to undertake short-term research, in any field of study, in Australia; and

  • From Australia to undertake short-term research, in any field of study, in participating outgoing countries.
 

Executive Awards  You are now leaving the DEST website  enable high achieving professionals in business, industry, education or government to work in an associated field for one to four months in a participating host country.

Endeavour Executive Awards are offered to citizens/permanent residents of:

  • Australia to go to participating countries
  • Participating countries to come to Australia.

Along with applications from individuals, DEST will accept nominations from organisations for one or more people to be considered for an Endeavour Executive Award.


Endeavour International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (IPRS)

Important Note:
Applications for Endeavour IPRS  You are now leaving the DEST website  are made directly through participating higher education institutions.

Scholarships are open to international students of all countries (except New Zealand) and are available for a period of two years for a Masters by research degree or three years for a Doctorate by research degree. The Scholarship covers tuition fees and health cover costs for Scholarship holders, and health cover costs for their dependants.


Endeavour Vocational and Technical Education (VTE) Awards

The Endeavour Vocational and Technical Education (VTE) Awards  You are now leaving the DEST website  enable students from eligible countries in the Asia-Pacific region to undertake vocational and technical education at a Diploma or Advanced Diploma level at an Australian institution (public and private providers). They will provide formal qualifications for new and existing workers, and provide the opportunity for participants to learn new technologies and methods of working. Awards are open to all fields of study.

 
Important Notes:
  • UMAP Programme funding is provided to Australian Universities (not students) - individual students are not eligible to apply for funding under the Australian UMAP Programme. Australian higher education institutions are eligible to apply.

  • If you are a student who wishes to apply contact the International Office of the educational institution where you are currently studying and ask them if they are participating in the UMAP programme.

The Australian UMAP Programme  You are now leaving the DEST website  provides funding to Australian higher education institutions to subsidise the cost of their establishing and monitoring, and of Australian students’ participation in, UMAP student exchanges with counterpart higher education institutions in the Asia Pacific Region. Supported students are required to study full-time and for at least one semester and a maximum of two semesters.


Endeavour Cheung Kong Student Exchange Programme

Important Notes:
  • Endeavour Cheung Kong Student Exchange Programme  You are now leaving the DEST website  funding is provided to Australian Universities (not students) - individual students are not eligible to apply for funding under the Endeavour Cheung Kong Student Exchange Programme. Australian higher education institutions are eligible to apply.

  • If you are a student who wishes to apply contact the International Office of the educational institution where you are currently studying and ask them if they are participating in the Endeavour Student Exchange programme.

In the 2007 round, the Programme will provide A$1 million to fund student mobility subsidies for 100 in-coming undergraduate exchange students from certain eligible Asian countries and administrative regions and a matching 100 out-going undergraduate Australian students to study in these same eligible Asian countries and administrative regions.

Two-thirds of the student mobility subsidies awarded each year are allocated to student exchanges involving links with counterpart institutions in mainland China and the Hong Kong SAR and the remaining one-third to those involving links with counterpart institutions in other eligible Asian countries. Other eligible Asian countries include: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Laos, Macau, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Republic of the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

Supported students are required to study full-time and for at least one semester and a maximum of two semesters in a counterpart institution under institution-to-institution student exchange arrangements.
